Deadline quickly approaching for Houston Oiler great Dan Pastorini’s annual fundraiser weekend

HOUSTON (Sept. 28) — The deadline to register for the various activities surrounding Houston Oiler great Dan Pastorini’s annual fundraiser benefitting Be An Angel is rapidly approaching and interested parties are encouraged to get involved now to secure their spot before the Oct. 5 deadline.

The weekend has something for everyone, with a celebrity poker tournament, dinner and private concert with country music star Tracy Byrd taking place Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Sugar Land Town Square Marriott.

On Monday, the celebrity golf tournament at Quail Valley Golf Course takes center stage with lots of NFL legends and local celebrities joining the fun.

“We pride ourselves in having an event that people enjoy from start to finish,” said Pastorini, the celebrated quarterback of the Houston Oiler’s “Luv Ya Blue” days. “We’re doing our best to raise money for profoundly deaf kids and families with multiple members with disabilities but we like to make sure the people that help the cause have fun. We want everyone to have a weekend they won’t forget.”

The poker tournament starts at 1 p.m., Sunday, and runs for four hours. Then the party shifts to a happy hour that leads into a buffet-style dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by a live auction. Tracy Byrd will then take the stage at 9 p.m.

Registration, breakfast and custom sunglass fitting for the golf tournament begins at 8 a.m., Monday, with the shotgun scramble start teeing off at 11 a.m. An award ceremony and dinner catered by Trulucks closes out the weekend at 4:45 p.m.

There are lots of ways to get involved, from individual tickets to corporate sponsorship. Please visit for details. Alternatively, people can call event organizer Kelleyne Mackey at 713-444-3618.

“We have a very limited number of spots left at each of the various activities on the schedule so I urge everyone to look us up now and lockdown their spot,” Pastorini said. “I love my city and the people who so generously support this cause every year. I can’t wait to see everyone again in a few weeks.”
